This project was a remodel which included a new expanded kitchen and dining room, remodeled guest bathroom and an entire new master suite built from scratch. When the clients brought me in, they knew they wanted a clean, modern home design, but needed help developing a vision for the space.

Together, we designed a modern kitchen that looks anything but builder grade. We chose a beautiful soft grey for the perimeter cabinets that has pale blue undertones. We contrasted that with a warm wood for the kitchen island. We mixed metals throughout the kitchen for a layered look - stainless steel appliances are paired with warm brass knurled hardware for the cabinets and black metal spotlights. The clients wanted to maximize closed cabinet space, so I designed just a couple of open shelves flanking the kitchen hood - a place for displaying handmade textural ceramics and vintage items for old world charm and tons of soul. The kitchen is infused with organic handmade touches like the Lostine wood pendants and woven counter stools that bring layers and layers of warmth and texture. The spotlights are a thoughtful modern touch bridging form and function. I know the family will enjoy every moment spent in this special kitchen!

The clients wanted the master bathroom to be a serene spa-like retreat. They had chosen a beautiful Calacatta Oro slab for the walls but were struggling with other tile selections that will work well with the slab. I knew the Calacatta slab to be balanced with tile selections that had organic texture, otherwise the space can look too sterile. I designed the bathroom floor with gauged natural slate tiles laid in an interesting corridor pattern. We chose a dark grey slab for the floating vanity and it ties in with the slate tile wonderfully. The dark floor and countertop work together to create a punchy contrast that allows the Calacatta Oro walls to shine. In the wet room, I chose a slatted wood tile that instantly calms and creates that spa feel. We added even more natural layers with the woven lighting on top of the mirrors. The vintage wood frame with the mustang photo print and the olive planter adds soul and character to the space.

The clients had wonderful taste, were willing to invest in high quality materials/furnishings, and most importantly, they trusted my vision. I believe that is so important to achieving good design and I am grateful for such great clients!
